Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Your weather data is yours. We don't sell it. We don't share it. We use it to provide the service you signed up for — that's it. We collect what we need to run LuxWX and nothing more.

What We Collect

Account info: Your name, email, and login credentials when you sign up.

Weather data: All the readings from your connected stations — temperature, humidity, wind, rain, pressure, UV, and everything else your sensors report.

Payment info: Billing details processed through Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number.

Usage data: Basic analytics like which pages you visit and how you use features. Standard stuff to help us improve the service.

How We Use It

We use your data to run LuxWX: storing your weather observations, calculating derived metrics, sending alerts you've configured, and powering features like Ask LuxWX. We also use basic analytics to understand how people use the platform so we can make it better.

We Don't Sell Your Data

Period. We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information or weather data to anyone. Your data is yours.

Who We Share With

We work with a few service providers to run LuxWX: Stripe for payments, cloud providers for hosting, and email services for notifications. They're contractually required to protect your data and only use it to provide their services to us.

Third-party data services: To provide forecasts and air quality data, we send your station's location coordinates to the National Weather Service (NWS) and PurpleAir APIs to retrieve local data.

We may also share information if required by law — but that's about it.

How Long We Keep It

Your weather data? Forever, as long as your account is active. That's the whole point — your complete weather archive. Account and payment records we keep as long as legally required.

Subscription cancellation: If you cancel your paid subscription, your account reverts to the free tier immediately. You have a 7-day grace period during which your historical data is preserved, giving you time to export your data or resubscribe. After the grace period, data retention is reduced to the free tier limit and older historical data will be removed.

Account deletion: If you choose to delete your account, deletion is immediate. We recommend exporting your data before deletion. Once deleted, your account and associated data cannot be recovered — but you're always welcome to create a new account.

Your Rights

You can access, correct, or delete your data anytime. You can export your weather history in CSV or JSON. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails. If you're in Europe, you have additional rights under GDPR. If you're in California, CCPA applies too.

Security

We use encryption, secure password hashing, access controls, and other industry-standard security measures. Payments go through PCI-compliant processors. We take security seriously.

Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in), remembering your preferences, and basic analytics. Nothing creepy.
