Setting Up Alerts
Create custom weather alerts and start receiving notifications.
How Alerts Work
LuxWX monitors your weather station data in real time. When a reading crosses a threshold you set — like temperature dropping below freezing — an alert is created and you're notified via push notification, email, or both.
Alerts resolve automatically when conditions return to normal, so you always know when the danger has passed.

Configure Your Alert
- Threshold — The value that triggers the alert (e.g., 32°F for frost)
- Notification channels — Push notifications, email, or both
- Cooldown — Minimum time between repeated alerts (prevents spam)
- Quiet hours — A time window where notifications are suppressed (e.g., overnight)

What is a threshold?
The threshold is the value that triggers your alert. For example, setting a frost alert with a threshold of 32°F means you'll be alerted when the air temperature drops below 32°F. Thresholds are displayed in your preferred unit system (Imperial or Metric).
Can I have multiple alerts on the same station?
Yes. You can configure as many alert types as you want per station. For example, you might have a frost warning, a high wind alert, and a lightning detection alert all running simultaneously.
Do alerts work across all my stations?
Each alert is configured per station. If you want the same alert on multiple stations, set it up on each one. This lets you use different thresholds for different locations.
Can I pause an alert without deleting it?
Yes. On the iOS app, swipe right on any alert to reveal the Pause button. On the web, toggle the alert off. Paused alerts keep their configuration but won't trigger until resumed.
Do I need a subscription for alerts?
Yes. Weather alerts require an active LuxWX subscription. Vineyard-specific alerts (frost risk, disease pressure, spray windows) additionally require the vineyard feature.
