Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them.
Station Unavailable
This screen appears when the weather station assigned to your display has been removed or is no longer available.
To fix this:
- Go to your display settings on luxwx.com
- Select your display and edit its configuration
- Choose a different weather station or update your playlist
- The display will pick up the new station on its next wake cycle
Display Not Updating
If the screen appears frozen or hasn't changed in a long time:
- Press the green button to wake the display
- Check that the battery isn't depleted — connect USB-C power if needed
- During nighttime hours, the display sleeps longer (default: every 60 minutes vs. 15 minutes during the day)
- If nothing works, try a WiFi reset
Stale or Old Data
If the weather data looks outdated, the display may not be updating properly.
Try these steps:
- Press the green button to force a refresh
- Check the status bar time — if it's far off, the display may not be reaching the server
- Verify your WiFi network is working (try loading a webpage on another device)
- Check your weather station is online at luxwx.com/settings
Reconnecting
This screen appears when the display's API key has been revoked or regenerated. The display is automatically re-registering with the server.
What happens:
- The display will get a new API key and claim code
- You'll need to re-claim the display by entering the new code
- This typically happens if someone regenerated the API key in settings
Weak WiFi Signal
If the WiFi icon in the status bar shows poor signal, the display may have trouble fetching weather data.
Tips to improve signal:
- Move the display closer to your WiFi router
- Avoid placing it behind thick walls, metal surfaces, or large appliances
- The display uses 2.4 GHz WiFi, which has better range than 5 GHz
- Consider a WiFi extender if needed
The status bar may show warning colors to indicate issues:
